At Lyly, we blend the time-honored traditions of herbalism with the latest scientific knowledge to create products that support holistic well-being. Our philosophy is inspired by the concept of Two-Eyed Seeing, introduced by Mi'kmaq Elder Albert Marshall. This approach encourages us to view the world through two lenses: one eye appreciates the spiritual and ecological wisdom of Indigenous and traditional cultures, while the other values the rigorous insights of modern science. By embracing both perspectives, we honor ancestral practices while using contemporary tools to enhance well-being.

Guided by these principles, I am committed to crafting products that merge the traditional and spiritual knowledge of different cultures with scientifically proven plant properties.

Traditional and Popular Knowledge: Connecting with Plants through the Soul

Across the world, herbs have been central to health, nutrition, and spiritual practices. For instance, Indigenous cultures use herbs like sage and sweetgrass for purification and healing, while in India, holy basil (Tulsi) is used for its medicinal and spiritual properties. In African and Afro-Brazilian traditions, rue and boldo are employed for spiritual cleansing and digestion. European cultures rely on nettle and lemon balm for physical and emotional health, and South American traditions incorporate moringa and damiana for nutrition and vitality. These practices are unified by the belief that herbs not only heal the body but also nurture the soul.

Scientific Knowledge: Connecting with Plants through the BrainScience continues to affirm the health benefits of many herbs traditionally used around the world. Holy basil (Tulsi) has been shown to reduce stress, boost immunity, and combat inflammation. Moringa, known as a "superfood," is rich in antioxidants and essential nutrients, making it highly effective for cardiovascular health and combating malnutrition. Nettle, packed with vitamins and minerals, supports bone health and treats anemia, while lemon balm and motherwort are praised for their calming effects on anxiety and their benefits for digestive and cardiovascular health. Mugwort and damiana, long valued in traditional medicine, have been scientifically proven to aid digestion, balance hormones, and enhance vitality. These examples demonstrate that modern science supports the centuries-old use of plants in promoting overall health and wellness.

Our Herbalist Products:

Tinctures, Oxymels, and Aromatherapy

At Lyly, I bring these traditions to life through carefully crafted products that honor both the energetic essence of herbs and their scientifically understood benefits. Our product line includes:

Oxymel: A blend of herbs, vinegar, and honey, used to support immunity, digestion, and overall well-being.

Tinctures: Concentrated herbal extracts designed for daily use, providing easy access to the healing power of plants.

Aromatherapy Oils: Natural, plant-based scents that promote emotional balance through the therapeutic power of fragrance.

Herbal Shampoos: Nourishing, chemical-free blends that cleanse and rejuvenate hair using herbal oils and extracts.

Our Plants: Cultivation and Sustainability

I grow many of these herbs, such as holy basil, sage, moringa, lemon balm, lemon vervain, nettle, geranium and rosemary, in my garden during the summer months. In the fall and winter, I turn to hydroponic gardening to ensure a year-round supply of fresh, sustainable plants. I also source ingredients from local and organic farmers to ensure the highest quality.

This sustainable approach ensures that our products are not only beneficial for health but also environmentally responsible.

Every product at Lyly reflects a deep respect for both tradition and science. I invite you to discover the rich cultural and medicinal wisdom that these plants carry and to incorporate them into your daily life for greater well-being. Together, let's embrace the wisdom of the past and the insights of the present to nurture both body and soul.

Welcome to Lyly, where plants meet purpose, and tradition meets science.
